Terms & Conditions

Definitions: The "Agency" Select Nanny & Babysitting Service. The "Service" Any Service that Select Nanny & Babysitting Service offer. The "Client" A person or family that require a Service from Select Nanny & Babysitting Service. The "Applicant" The applicant is the candidate put forward for the Service that the Client requires. The "Employee" When the Applicant is employed by the Client they will become the Employee. The "Employer" When the Client employs the Applicant they will become the Employer.

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service operates on the basis of an introductory service between the clients and applicants.

Any applicant who wishes to register with Select Nanny & Babysitting Service must be qualified in the childcare sector, or have a minimum of two years experience working with children. They must attend an interview and provide details of at least three referees. We will contact three referees for a verbal reference, or send a reference form for them to complete. Candidates may not be sent for interviews until three referees have been contacted.

A candidate must provide at least two forms of identification such as passport and driving license. The original documents need to be seen. All applicants must hold an enhanced police disclosure (CRB), or be willing to get one done

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service will take copies of all C.Vs, references and identification documents

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service reserve the right to decline an applicant acceptance onto the agency books if the required criteria have not been met.

Details of clients and applicants are confidential and will not be disclosed until Select Nanny & Babysitting Service have permission from the individual, once a booking or interview has been arranged. Clients may request a candidates C.V. and references be sent to them before an interview date has been agreed. In this instance Select Nanny & Babysitting Service will contact the candidate to gain their permission and will send three most recent references, C.V and any qualification and first aid certificates the candidate may hold. The client must be registered with Select and is not permitted to contact the candidate’s references until an interview has been held and permission has been sought from the candidate

Clients agree to send back portfolios of any Nanny to Select Nanny & Babysitting Service, if they do not wish to interview/employ them. This is to protect the nannies privacy

The final decision to employ an applicant remains the responsibility of the client.

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service advise all applicants and clients to agree on the terms and conditions of the position and sign a contract they are happy with before employment commences.

The employer is responsible for all payments to the employee. This includes wages, Income Tax liabilities and National Insurance contributions. Temporary nannies are also considered as your employee, so require Tax and National Insurance to be paid on their behalf. The amounts paid to employees need to be negotiated between client and employee. We are not responsible for setting these amounts.

Maternity Nurses are self employed and are therefore responsible for their own Tax and National Insurance contributions.

The agency must be informed when an applicant has accepted a position. The client will then be liable for the agency fee and an invoice will be sent out when a start date has been agreed. The invoice is due to be paid within fourteen days of receipt; failure to make payment will result in a 20% surcharge for each calendar month the invoice remains outstanding. If the account remains unpaid after three months, an administration charge of £30 will be added for each month the account remains outstanding. Select Nanny & Babysitting Service will seek recovery of the amount owed though legal sources after four months. The cost of this recovery will be added onto the outstanding account.

Agency fees: Part time Nanny Placements are for between 6 and 30 hours a week. This is charged as a part-time nanny placement. Placements over 30 hours a week are considered full time and will be charged as a full-time placement. We regret the fact that we are unable to supply nannies for permanent positions for less than six hours a week, due to lack of nannies looking for these hours. Temporary placements are charged at a daily rate.

Any temporary placement of three or more consecutive months will be charged as a permanent placement.

Discounted rates and promotions are given at the discretion of the manager

The agency fee will only be refunded if the employee fails to commence employment. A refund of 50% may be claimed if the employee decides to leave within four weeks of commencement of employment and no suitable replacement can be found. No refund shall be made for temporary staff once employment has started.

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service hold no responsibilities and are not liable for any actions or defaults of an applicant once placed with an employer.

The babysitting service starts at 6pm. Babysitting Service is charged per booking, or a subscription for three months, six months or for a year. Combined memberships are for a year and are for clients who use regular temporary nannies and babysitters. Proxy parent placements are charged per 24 hours, per weekend and per week. Rates for these services are available from Select Nanny & Babysitting Service.

The agency asks that a minimum of three days notice is given for babysitting and temporary placements and a minimum of six weeks notice is given for proxy parent placements

Babysitting and temporary positions will be invoiced after the first date and payment is due within fourteen days. Failure to make payment will result in a charge of 20% being added to the account for each month outstanding. If payment is not made after three months, an administration charge of £20 will be added for each further month the account remains unpaid and action will be taken to recover the amount due and any costs due to this recovery will be added onto the outstanding account.

Members of the Babysitting service will be required to keep their membership up to date if they wish to continue to use the service, otherwise they will be charged per booking once their membership has expired

The agency will try to place a babysitter or temporary Nanny every time the client requires one, but there may be occasions when we are unable to do so

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required when cancelling a babysitter, or temporary Nanny, otherwise a minimum of three hours will be payable to the Babysitter/Nanny.

Babysitters are requested to contact Select Nanny & Babysitting Service as soon as possible if they need to cancel a booking. If cancelling on the day of a booking, they must speak to the manager to ensure she knows the situation. If they cannot speak directly to her, they can leave a message on the office phone or mobile, but if you do not hear back from the manager within three hours of the start time, please contact the client directly to explain

Select Nanny & Babysitting Service reserves the right not to give a babysitter any work if the conditions above are not carried out.

Any temporary or babysitting position must be re-booked through Select Nanny & Babysitting Service. Clients are not permitted to contact nannies and babysitters directly, unless it is in an emergency.

The agency reserves the right not to renew babysitting memberships for clients who do not adhere to these terms and conditions and will not place babysitters/temporary staff/proxy parents/ nannies with clients who have previously used the service and not paid their invoices.

The service will not refund babysitting or combined membership fees should the service be restructured, moved, closed or sold.
