The process of choosing a Nanny
A GUIDE FOR PARENTS
|
|
Choosing a Nanny for your children can be a very difficult time. I have put together a brief to give details of the stages you are likely to go through in order to find a suitable Nanny with the help of Select Nanny & Babysitting Service.
-
You have called the agency and have read your registration pack. The registration form needs to be returned to Select Nanny & Babysitting Service. Once I have received your form, I will be able to select any suitable candidates.
-
I choose candidates who I think are most suitable for the position and have a chat with them. If they are interested in the job, I will contact you with details about the Nannies. I will send their C.V, qualification certificates and three most recent references to you. (Please note, I may only select one or two candidates for each position. This is because I aim to match the clients and Nannies so the job will work for both sides.)
-
If you like the sound of a particular Nanny, give me a call. I will call the Nanny and she will contact you directly to arrange an interview. I would recommend that the children are not involved in the first meeting with the Nanny, especially if you are likely to see a number of candidates.
-
If you like any Nanny, I would invite them back for a second interview. It would be at this time I would recommend introducing them to the children. It is a good idea to see how they interact with your children and will give the children a chance to be involved in the process.
-
By this stage you would have decided which Nanny you would like to employ.
Give me a call and I will contact the Nanny and let her know. I would call you back with her decision and if she accepts, I would advise the Nanny to call you in a couple of days to arrange a time to come over and chat about a start date and contract

I would call you back with her decision and if she accepts, I would advise the Nanny to call you in a couple of days to arrange a time to come over and chat about a start date and contract. I would also suggest you have a couple of handover days with the Nanny to familiarize her with the routine and school runs. This is also a good time for the children to get used to having a new person around.
-
Once a start date has been agreed, please call me to let me know.
-
I would suggest you have a handover time with your Nanny, have as many days with your Nanny and the children as you feel comfortable with. I would recommend a minimum of two, so you can go through your children’s routine and take the Nanny to any activities your children do and introduce them to the staff at your child’s nursery or school.
-
I would make sure you have your contract sorted out and signed before the official start date and if you are using Nannytax or Nanny deductions, make sure this is sorted out at this time.
-
I would call both client and Nanny in the first week of employment to see how everything is going.
-
At this point, I would send out my invoice for the agency fee.
-
If there are any teething problems, I would talk to your Nanny as soon as you can to avoid problems later.
-
Good luck. If you need any help or advice, you can call me any time.
